Ballard College is a small, co-educational day and boarding school, with just over 100 pupils aged 13-18, including 22 boarders.
The school was formed as part of the Ballard Schools which opened in September 1995 after the merger of Fernhill Manor School and Edinburgh House School It has a well-established reputation and tradition for academic success. The school aims to provide a well-balanced and rigorous education for all its pupils and is fortunate to employ an enthusiastic and dedicated staff.
We place particular emphasis on looking after the individual needs of all our pupils and, given our size and staffing ratio, this is a realistic possibility. We seek to develop to the full the talents of every one of our pupils and promote their spiritual, academic, physical, cultural and social development, so that each may confidently and productively take his or her place in the complex modern society in which we live. In preparing our pupils to live fulfilling lives in our ever-changing and demanding world, we should help them to be self-confident but not arrogant, tolerant but not subservient, ambitious but not ruthless, determined yet not self-centred.
The College has a Christian foundation and seeks to affirm Christian values. This is reflected in our acts of worship and in the values we endeavour to promote and inculcate in our pupils.
The school enjoys good facilities including Science laboratories, Technology and Home Economics rooms, a Music suite, Drama studio, Sixth Form study centre, a full working theatre/concert hall, an Art studio and Library. Sports facilities include a Gymnasium, outdoor swimming pool and a recently opened Sports Hall, as well as substantial outdoor facilities.
